The Department of Cardio-Vascular surgery has ultramodern operating suites with central oxygen and air supply system supported by fully automatic generator facility. The suites are equipped with the latest make heart-lung machine, ventilators, monitors, blood gas analyzer, intra-aortic balloon pump and mobile x-ray machine. All types of open-heart and closed heart surgeries including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) by conventional method and beating heart/ off-pump, valve repair and replacement and correction of birth defects are being routinely performed. The operating risk of less than 1% for patients undergoing CABG and 2% for valve replacement is comparable to any of the best centers in the world.
The Department of Cardio-Vascular Surgery aims to perform over 2000 open-heart surgeries annually.
Prof. A.K. Srivastava, M.S. (Gen Surg.), M.Ch.(Cardiac surg.), F.A.M.S.-A world renowned cardiac surgeon who has to his credit more than 10,000 open heart surgeries, has trained more than 35 post graduate medical students in cardiac surgery and published number of research papers and national and international journals of repute. Prof. Srivastava completed his MS in general surgery and his M.Ch in cardiac surgery from BHU in Varanasi, and is very well trained to perform Heart-Lung Transplantation. He lastly held the post of Professor and Head of Cardiac surgery at SGPGIMS at Lucknow. He is one of the members of International Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons and International Society of Heart & Lung Transplantation.

Dr.Pankaj Kumar Srivastava (Medical Director & Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgery) has joined Divine Heart Hospital in September 2013 as Medical Director and Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon. He did his cardiac surgery training (M.Ch) from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur in 1999. He then joined Railway Hospital, Prembur,Chennai and worked there for four and a half years. Then he joined the Frontier Lifeline Hospital, chennai to work with one of the legends of Cardiac Surgery in India – Dr. K.M. Cherian. From Chennai he moved to Kerala to work in a small rural mission hospital at Parumala,Pathanamthitta District under the banner of Dr. K.M. Cherian Foundation. He then took over as CAO and Chief Cardiac Surgeon as Dr.K.M. Cherian Heart Foundation unit at Pushpagiri, Tiruvilla. His last assignment before joining Divine Heart Hospital was as Director and Chief Cardiac Surgeon at Pushpagiri Heart Institute, Tiruvilla,Kerala.
